How You Can Help

Prayer Support

  • Recite the Stabat Mater Prayer for Artists daily.
  • Ask intercession from the saints associated with the arts and the “Culture of Life,” such as Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint Catherine of Bologna, Saint Luke, Saint Bernward, Blessed Giovanni of Fiesole (Fra Angelico), and Saint Gianna Molla.
  • Offer Masses.
  • Recite the Rosary, for artists.
  • Recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet, for artists.
  • Even the simple offering of the name of Jesus is a prayer. Offer this prayer for artists throughout your day.

“We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as from the beginning he had meant us to live it.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Donations are freely given contributions to the Stabat Mater Prayer Apostolate (SMPA) and any type or amount is welcome (time, talent, or treasure).   In keeping with many artists’ sense of creative freedom, SMPA chooses not to seek foundation or government grants, or United Way funds. Thus SMPA is not an I.R.S.-recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. In the USA, your donation to SMPA is not tax-deductible. This does not preclude tax-deductibility in other countries.

The arts call us to go beyond ourselves; we are given the opportunity to contemplate God’s mysteries and thereby grow in virtue. Through faith and work, fidelity to the Magisterium, and reliance on the intercession of Our Lady, the Stabat Mater Prayer Apostolate looks forward to a Culture of Life abundant with art that is worthy of our dignity as persons. This art will reflect anew the wonder of God’s love for us and the beauty of His creation.

The aim of this apostolate is to highlight the importance of the vocation of Artist. At issue is the restoration of Christian civilization. And artists—in all media—are the visionaries who can lead the way in this restoration. Thus our goal is to attract more people around the world to the practice of praying for artists, their families, and their benefactors.

The question is: how can the Stabat Mater Prayer Apostolate engage artists and create a dialogue with them to know of their needs? We would like to gain supporters for future projects as we discern our way.

Perhaps you would like to be added to our prayer list and receive e-mail news; we invite you to sign up. Please indicate (artists only) if you would like your name to be part of an artists’ directory to be maintained on this website.

Anyone can send a prayer request through this site, anonymously if you like. We just need volunteers to receive prayer requests. Are you interested?
